Planets

We did two days of school this week.  They were a little shorter than normal but we are learning about the planets/solar system.

So far he has learned about Mercury, Venus and Mars (we spent a whole month on Earth).  We also learned about comets, asteroids, and meteorites.

He glued/glittered a comet and we made a comet from sand and ice.  We are making a solar system to hang from our dining room light and when it's done I'll post that.  He learned that mercury is dead and has continually called it the dead planet all week.  He learned if he stood on mercury he wouldn't be able to hear.  I had him plug his ears then I mouthed words (and made it look like I was yelling them)  to him and when he unplugged his ears I asked if he could hear me, he thought it was really cool that he couldn't.  We did a volcano with baking soda and vinegar and talked about Venus being the hottest and brightest planet.  Venus happens to be out now and last night Cedrik got to see it.  Really cool.

Next week we'll attempt the last of the planets.

Grandma & Papa Smith

They came at the perfect time. Jordan thought he would be able to take part of the week off but work picked up and he was busy with lots of last minute things.  They were a huge help.  The boys had so much fun and Cedrik didn't stop talking the whole time.  And now Freddie

Papa was everyone's best friend.
Cedrik: he will answer any question this boy has.  He is great at pretend conversations.  He lets him help build and teaches him how to use power tools.
Freddie: he lets him climb all over him. He tries really hard to understand his words.  He lets him be Fred.
Jordan: he helped build shelves in the garage.  Filled up the truck with gas and vacuumed it.  Bought him some more yellow microfiber towels. :)
Me: he took the trash out constantly, swept, kept all the laundry cleaned and folded, made sure gDiapers were always ready, kept the boys entertained outside!

Grandma made sure everyone was well fed the whole week.  She got as many snuggles in as she could with all three grandchildren.  She got the boys ready for naps and baths/bedtime every day and night.  She stocked up our pantry and freezer.

The week went really fast, they always do.  The boys were upset when it was over and everyday ask to call them.

Farmstead

Today we went to the Farmstead.  It was really fun!  Instead of the usual $8/per person we were able to get in only paying for Cedrik and it was only $4 for him!  Very exciting.

While we were waiting for my friend Tammy and her sister to arrive with their
kids, my friend Jen and I were able to let the kids play in the "corral" area.  They had slides, rubber swings that looked like horses and a sandbox full of corn kernels.  When Tammy got there we went on the hay ride (I was hoping the bumps would maybe start labor!).  The boys thought it was cool to be pulled by a tractor.  They got to pick out a miniature pumpkin.

Next we went to the cow train.   They loved this.  They pet some animals and both were bit by a goose.  They thought it was pretty funny, after the shock of it happening. :)
