Finally, some rain.

We have been waiting all summer for rain.  On Thursday it finally happened. A massive downpour right before dinner.  Freddie was already in his chair for dinner, and he doesn't like water too much, so Cedrik and I ran out to play in the rain...which was basically him running in it because it was literally pouring.  He loved it, and did not love the thunder. :)

Ivy Wild!

Donna invited us to go to Ivy Wild with she and Hartley today.  My dad ended up being able to be done with work early so he could come too.  The boys were thrilled.

They took a late nap (which is random for Freddie, not for Cedrik). I had to wake both of them up and Cedrik was a little temperamental until we got to the pool.

They went down the kid slides and had a ball. Surprisingly, Freddie had a great time.  He isn't the biggest fan of water but he loved the slide and all the excitement. He slipped and went under a couple of times but it didn't really phase him.  He was great.

Cedrik loved the slide too, but his swimsuit isn't the slippery fabric so he went down really slowly. It didn't seem to bother him. He loves the water and can dunk his head underneath.  He had a lot of fun playing with Hartley and Grammy and Papa.

Halfway through the afternoon we took a break.  Donna had bought some cheetos for Hartley and Cedrik asked what they were.  Then he tried one and proceeded to eat  the whole bag and gave only a couple away.

Then Donna remembered she had some cheddar popcorn (popcorn is Freddie's favorite snack/treat) and he squatted and ate the 1/4 of the bag that was left. :)  So much for the raisins I brought.  Lame mom!

At the end, Cedrik went with Grandpa down the big slide. Immediately he said "I want to do that again" and so they went again. He is very courageous.

We had a really great afternoon.

Summer continues

This week hasn't been the greatest.  There is smoke/pollution all around so we don't go outside much. Especially because we have all had a cold that Freddie caught in nursery.

But, here are some pictures of recent things we are doing.

They have been so interested in reading. Freddie finally caught on that books are fun and will sit through some of them now. His favorite books are ones where the  characters hide and he has to slide the piece to see them.  He also loves both Little Blue Truck books.

Cedrik has been doing the Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons.  We are on lesson 18 and he seems to be doing well, most days. The hardest part is the fidgiting. Right now he loves reading: Peter Rabbit, Summer Sun Risin', Steam Train Dream Train, Thomas the Tank Engine, The Mighty Street Sweeper.

Funny Guys

Cedrik is sleeping in that first picture. He didn't nap that day, went to grandpa and Grammy Fox's house and passed out on the way home.

Today he tried talking to our neighbors (or a random woman who is apparently there now) and they didn't respond to him. I told him sometimes people just want to sit and not talk to little kids. His response, "Mom, I'm a big kid." Yes he is!

Freddie will say words, if he is in the right mood.  He cannot be forced, bribed, etc. Cedrik does a good job of getting him to say words but even then it's not too often.

Freddie likes to ride his little blue car  down the driveway with his feet up high.

They have both taken to playing behind  our front bushes.  Cedrik loves to scrape the dirt and make roads.
