The Snowplow

Cedrik can earn $1 per day if he earns all of his stickers (right now Freddie just earns stickers and that's enough fun for him).  He saved his money for a snowplow attachment for his truck he got at Christmas.  He was so excited.

Then we went on amazon and the price was $50 (it was listed for $12 when we first found it). We waited a week to order it when the price came back down.  When it was delivered they wanted $8 additional postage.  I sent it back and called them.  They sent another one, after waiting a few days because they were back ordered. Then it wasn't delivered....a week later I called.  It was stuck in PA because of bad weather.  I would have never guessed because we are having almost 60 degree days (you read that right, Adrienne).

It finally arrived today.  He is so thrilled!  Maybe now he'll have incentive to earn his stickers: no quick payoff=uncooperative little boy.

The Art of Can Stacking

Grandpa's birthday

We were in Utah for the weekend. We celebrated Steve's birthday.  Everyone pitched in for a new recliner.  It is really nice!

We had a party. Jordan also helped Chari move and the boys were able to spend a lot of time playing with Bowen and their other cousins.

Joking

Cedrik decided to start making jokes.   Usually he copies, but there are some original ones.  Like these:

"How did the pig grow up to turn up the music?  To get into the music!"

"Why did the fish cross to the car?" To get to his friends!"

Every day life

Every Monday Freddie gets to help make breakfast. Every Friday Cedrik gets to.  They look forward to their day all week.

The hole punch is a big hit.

We have played outside a couple of times.  (Brrrrrr)

Jordan and I are regular horses now.  We only give rides to those 35lbs and under.

Cedrik has been tuning the piano just like dad.  He loves to practice his song on the piano (hot crossed buns). He is going to play in the spring recital.

I saw an obstacle course on pinterest. The boys had fun with it.

Freddie loves taking pictures:

Air-o-planes!

We studied airplanes and although it wasn't as exciting as trains, it was still fun.

He knows that pilots fly planes, and some of the parts of the plane (engine,  wheels, cockpit, wings, tail). We watched some take offs and landings.  Before he could fly the plane he had to pass his pilots licensing test (administered by Jordan).

We read quite a few fun books: Clorinda Takes Flight, Moon Plane, Come Fly With Me, How People Learned to Fly, My First Airplane Ride, Zephyr Takes Flight.  ALL wonderful.

We also made some Valentine paper airplanes.

For some reason I don't take many pictures.  Sorry!

trains, Trains, TRAINS!

We started off the week planning our train.  We read research books (we have read research books about trains for over a year. Cedrik loves them), The Train to Glasgow (my grandma's maiden name!), I'm Taking a Trip on My Train, Train Trip.

The next day Cedrik and Freddie were both Engineer Porter.  They also acted as conductor.  They traveled to Boston, Lake Baikal (in Russia), Canada, South Africa, a Subway in New York City, and Japan.  Cedrik especially loved driving a maglev train (magnetic levitation train) and he knows why they travel faster than all other trains (they don't have wheels and they float above the track).

They ate lunch in/around their train, complete with the brown paper sack two days in a row.  He learned even more parts of a train. We also made a train track. This week was a HUGE hit.

Cheeky Bubble

Here's our "cheeky bubble" today.   This is Cedrik's new nickname for her.

Weather

We studied the weather.

The big hit of the week was being storm chasers.  We made a radar, an anemometer and a rain guage. We used their laptop to track the storm which turned into a tornado.  Freddie was the one who had to keep "going out in the storm" with the radar so we could track it.  Cedrik had to decide how big the tornado was and make sure everyone was alerted to get underground. We drove in the truck (they sat on my legs) and we're thrown back and forth with the fierce winds. We watched a tornado video and held the camera to make sure we were getting good pictures of it.  It was intense.

We also learned about hurricanes but tornados were the hit of the week.  I tried making funnels with water bottles but they kept leaking.

We also simulated a storm with rain (water in a bowl) and the blow dryer.  Freddie is horrified by the hairdryer. We built towers and blew them down with the wind.

It was an action packed few days.
