Visit with Papa and Grandma Smith

Cedrik and Papa clicked very fast. He loves walking around stores and looking at everything with him. He even knows that his name is Papa. So now he knows Mama, Dada (Bob) and Papa. Grandma was a little bit tougher to learn.

But, he loves his Grandma. They hung out all weekend and he took to her like white on rice. She fed him a lot of food and he loved her even more. In this picture, she isn't giving him some of her food and he was making a very upset face. He can't hide his emotions.

We went shooting (Dad, Jordan and I)

All of our shoulders hurt the next day...I guess that means we shot a lot.

Jordan still takes wonderfully pretty photos...

And we all were pretty good shots.

I'll be doing another post of something very special I got for an early (ok, really early birthday present) VERY soon.

Silliness Has A New Name

And that name is Cedrik Jordan. Our little boy has developed some more indepenence and with that independence a whole new attitude. He's the funniest little man ever.

He laughs with a deep hoarse semi-cough while making this face (usually with a little more wrinkle in the nose):

His Porter Smile (AKA, show-all-of-your-pretty-teeth-smile) has appeared. Who knew you could smile with all of your teeth even when you don't have any!?

He likes carrying his toys in his mouth:

He's actually liking his crib a lot more than he used to:

He's even more of a Mama's Boy now:

He loves being naked and to quote from the movie Date Night: There's a fight every night when it's pajama time. It's a big surprise every night that he has to wear pajamas to bed:

He's always finding new ways to sleep in his crib:

He'll stand where he wants to, when he wants to:

Where Oh Where has Our Little BeaBea Gone?

Has anyone wondered where the posts about Beatice have gone? Maybe you thought we were just too wrapped up in Cedrik to take any photos of BeaBea. Maybe you thought Boob Darling had mysteriously been taken to a nice "farm" so she could roam with the other dogs. Well, let me fill you in.

She's alive and well. Currently she is living with Tim and Donna (My Dad and Step-mom). You see, Bea is one jealous "B" and when Cedrik was born we were hoping she'd take him in like a little puppy of her own. We're big dreamers in the Porter house. She started getting depressed. It's hard to think of a dog being depressed. If any of you have met The Beabs you know she has an attitude that is all her own. So, she stopped eating. For awhile she wouldn't eat for a day. So we tried coaxing her into her food and that didn't seem to help. Another fun fact about Boobis, when she doesn't eat, she throws-up. But, she is very smart and learned quickly to do this in the bathroom or kitchen so we didn't have a stain on the carpet. We thought she'd grow out of this stage and start loving him...we underestimated her stubbornness (she is my dog after all and we should have assumed she'd take after me).

After a few months of this she started having accidents in the house; I say accidents because the real words make it sound too gross. So, we had to start talking about what we were going to do with her. We could either borrow Donna's carpet shampooer, forever, or make Bea happy. She would spend the night at Tim and Donna's frequently and had no problem eating or going potty outside.

Now for the cherry on top. One morning we woke up and Bea couldn't stop throwing up. And.it.was.bad. She didn't want to eat anything, not even rice and broth (she loves people food). Then there was blood. Then the diahrrea started. We managed to get a little food and water into her but decided she should stay the night at Tim and Donna's since they have a dog door and she'd be able to go out on her own. The next morning we met Tim and Donna at the vet. Bea was severely dehydrated and sick. She basically had botchilism for dogs. Now, the dog type can sit in their system for a long time until a dog-stress of some kind triggers it. In this case, Cedrik was her stress (We think. Otherwise it was because I yelled at her for trying to eat my enchilada that was on the table--let's blame it on my hormones). We had no idea she really disliked him that much and felt horrible.

After that day, Jordan and I decided that we'd better think about letting her live with Tim and Donna. We talked it over and realized that she was happier there. She has CowCow (Lucy the Shih Tzu) and a yard and two people to give her all the attention she can stand.

She does come over now and then, but it isn't often. When she does come over, she mainly sleeps.

She's with us this weekend, and after only a few hours of being here, she bit Cedrik. It was mainly my fault (I had a greenie, aka her favorite thing in the world, and was giving her pieces for sitting by Cedrik. I thought if I associated something she loves with Cedrik maybe she'd snap out of her bad attitude.). Well, he leaned in to her and she thought he was going to take her treat and snapped. Immediately she went to the ground and knew she was in the wrong. I can't figure out what's wrong with Cedrik because our friends' son Connor would watch her and try to play with her and she did just fine with him. Jealousy.

Today she has been much nicer and even letting him touch her and he forgave her within minutes and was already talking to her (Talking to animals is more of a high pitched cough). Myabe we're on the road to better days or maybe this is a random turn of niceness in our otherwise bad dream.
