Spirit of Boise 2014

We woke up early to watch the hot air balloons "float up in the sky." We were also able to see the sunrise, which I have been wanting to do for awhile. We were able to talk about how the earth rotates and how the sun appears to rise. When the sun finally peaked up over the hills Freddie announced, "morning is here!" l.o.v.e.

Jordan made up a song about hot air balloons a year ago that he has sung almost every night since then to the boys. They love it.

After, we had bagels and apple juice for breakfast. I love this time of year. Autumn is almost here!

Spanish breakfast

We've ended our study of Picasso, for now, but I had forgotten that I wanted to make a Spanish breakfast.

I learned that churros are a common breakfast in Spain. Awesome. I fried them in coconut oil and Cedrik probably ate half of them. I was Maria (Picasso's mother) for the morning. We also had to complete the breakfast with tea in tea cups and Gershwin serenading us. It was lovely.

Reuseable Trader Joe's Bags

We walked (the boys rode) down to see the horses. Cedrik asked if we could make some horse ears. Of course we can!

A trader joes bag, yarn and scissors and I had created ears (extra long ones). Then they needed the mane. THEN I really spiced things up by showing them a picture of a Pegasus. So, they needed wings.

They needed to try the grass, to see what it tasted like. Freddie exclaimed, "I love grass! It tastes like honey!" Yum. Also, he really wanted to fly. He thought I had made real wings. He asked several times how he was supposed to get up in the sky and thought if he rode on his scooter really fast, he'd make it. I remember wanting to fly as a kid and really thought I could if I just wished hard enough. Now, I wish he could fly. Maybe if we both wish hard enough, it will happen.

Brown paper bags and bubble wrap have been some of their favorite things to play with. The price (and the smiles produced!) can't be beat!

Richmond Visitors

This has been our busiest (and best) summer as a family. We've had quite a few visitors and we've made quite a few trips!

This weekend, Grandma and Grandpa Porter came.  It was a lot of fun.  Cedrik asked probably 1,000 question to grandma. Freddie was attached to her too and Eloise kept her eye on Grandpa.

We ate out. Shopped at Trader Joe's. We bowled (Carla's first time). Went to the quilt shop for more than an hour, went to a park and of course, Goody's. Jordan and Steve raced the cars and Jordan is still happy with the Passat...but not happy with the huge crack the windshield got this week.

They came to sacrament today and Jordan played beautifully.  There is an elderly lady who comes in first most weeks with her husband and this week she said to her husband as she walked in-and loud enough for Jordan to hear up at the organ, "Oh good! I love hearing him play the organ." He loves it and it shows. :)

Car Washing

While waiting for Grandma and Grandpa Porter, Jordan washed the car and I had promised the boys they could wash theirs. Their friends Addison from across the street came over (as usual) and helped them. They love her.

Sandy Point

We went up to Lucky Peak to swim for the afternoon. The boys requested cheese sandwiches and picked out cheetos at trader joes, along with fruit.

My friend Cara has three kids too, Kannon, Taegan, and Ellie-all about the same age as mine. Taegan is in Cedrik's primary class. She brought Gatorade and cookies, which was the most exciting thing for the boys. :)

I was the only one who turned red and Eloise ate giant mouthfuls of sand, pebbles and rocks, literally the whole time we were there. She is sleeping it off today.

The boys passed out on the way home for a few minutes and we finished the day watching a tinkerbell movie about pirates while Jordan taught piano-we were so worn out. Today Cedrik is pretending to be a fairy and Freddie is the Captain.

Colorado Foxes

Spence and Bethany came for a visit. We got to see them every day.

On Saturday they came over and we had Flying Pie, of course.

Sunday was a family dinner at Dad and Donna's house. The boys played in the little kid pool with Hartley until they were all shivering.... multiple times.

On Monday and Tuesday they hung out at our house and later in the evening we played games. Blokus is not our forte, monopoly isn't theirs, so it turned out to be an even match. ;) We also played charades, which is still hilarious. I need to work on being less competitive.

They spoiled the boys with doughnuts, fruit snacks and new shirts. And lots of play-time. The boys are obsessed with Bethany and fought over who got to sit in the seat she sat in for a couple of days.

We went to Ivy Wild on Monday afternoon with them, Dad, Donna and Hartley. Freddie gulped several mouthfuls of water (yuck)-he managed to go down the slide several times and loved it as long as someone was there to catch him. Cedrik was a fish in another life. If we had a pool, I'm certain he'd already know how to swim. Eloise must have been a fish too because she kept trying to dunk her face in the water, and succeeded a few times. She loved laying, kicking, and splashing. She was upset (loudly) when she wasn't touching the water. It was hilarious.
