Non-coffee Tiramisu

This past weekend Mama asked me to make dessert for family dinner on Sunday. So, I offered brownies, she replied with tiramisu. It was a recipe she had found in the newspaper and it called for strawberries/raspberries and lemon sauce. It turned out to be fantastic. Jordan helped with reading the directions and then whisking the eggs once my arm became tired.

I had the midwife yesterday. I am measuring right on 29 weeks and Cedrik is already head down. Since he's already head down she said it was rare that he'd flip to butt down; although he may make a few somersaults. We start our childbirthing class tonight and are VERY excited!

Brian and I after eating....this is all bloat. ;)

Hot Mexican Mess

Here's the update of "The Belly", 27 weeks 5 days:

Cedrik is awake a lot now. We also read he has REM cycles now too. Who knows what he's dreaming of, probably Jesus because that's probably the last face he can remember. ;) When Jordan puts his face on my belly, he'll kick him on the cheek. It's pretty cute. We can't figure out where 14.5 inches of baby are in my belly, but he's in there and must be very snug.

This weekend is conference. We are always very excited for conference and are anxious to hear which talks seem to be meant especially for us. We'll be in UT with the rest of the family. Chari is having her baby shower, Shayla's birthday and Easter. It will be a packed weekend. Also, the rest of the family get's to meet Shayla's boyfriend, David.

Last night I made my own "Mexican Mess." Tortillas, beans, rice, green sauce, cheese and meat all layered and then topped with sour cream. It was actually pretty good and I don't think we'd have a problem eating it again. It looks pretty gross in the picture (and I forgot to take one before we had eaten half of it), but the mess tasted dang good! Then I made brownies from scratch (forgot to take a picture) and they were the best brownies either of us have ever had. I think my "wife gene" is finally kicking in. :) Oh, and the house has been clean all week!

Beatrice has been having a lot of fun and a lot of attitude. She has been seeing Shayla's kids a lot lately and they take her for walks/runs. It's nice because she gets so tired she'll just pass out. Last weekend she escaped from Shayla's back yard. We could see her tied to a tree about 100 yards away and she just stared at us, like she was in jail. She's also been snapping at Alan, Shayla's cat, whenever he comes out to eat. Even though she knows it isn't her food, she protects it. Brian, Hank and Maude are coming in about a week. They may be bringing their French Bulldog Antionette, and she'll stay with us. That will give beabs a friend for a few days. We can't wait to see all of them and get to spend some much needed time together as friends.

Cedrik Jordan Porter

23 WEEKS 1 DAY.
Here's an update of what's been going on:

  • We are both working our butts off! Not only at work but at home preparing for the baby.

  • We have started stocking up on items. We decided to do a cloth diaper hybrid type thing (http://www.gdiapers.com/). So we picked up some of those and are trying to buy something with every check so we aren't overwhelmed when Cedrik arrives. (wipes, a couple of outifts, detergent, etc)

  • We also named him! Cedrik Jordan Porter. His first name is pronounced (SEE-drik). We are both feeling him move and have even seen the belly move a few times as well.

  • My belly-button is basically non-existent. I finally have gained some weight and now can't stop eating! :) Healthy food, that is!
  • We also found a crib. It is very cute and free! Well, Dad and Donna bought the crib for us as a gift and it is too cute!

Well Here We Are

I'm at 19 weeks and 5 days. 2 more days and we're halfway there. The time is flying by and now I am growing at a very fast pace! Take a look:

Lately I feel like I should be bigger than I am. I get so many comments just like this: "Oh Wow! You're soooooooo tiny." or "You have SUCH a small belly!" It is sinking in more and more that my time as a working woman is less and less. I'm excited but still worried that I won't feel I'll be making my "contribution" to the family. My contribution has always been, in my mind, my income. So now bringing my love, nurturing capabilities, and taking care of house and home will become my life! It is a little scary, but I'm up for the challenge.
We find out on Monday exactly how far along we are and also the sex of the baby!

We decided that we should probably post some pictures of "the" belly. We are at 16 weeks 5 days. We find out on February 8th if it's a boy or a girl. So exciting!
