Muscles

We learned a little bit about muscles.

Cedrik thinks it's funny that the bum is a muscle. He's been so interested in learning how to become stronger like his dad.

He decided that getting lots of sleep, eating lots of vegetables and getting older all help in getting bigger muscles. So, today he woke up and decided he turned 5. He cannot be convinced he's still 4.

The boys got to practice using their muscles with an easy activity I set up. I lined up random things from the house lightest to heaviest. I asked them to try to pick it up using only one arm at first. Cedrik surprisingly lifted up all with only one hand. Freddie wasn't too interested in finding out how strong he is. Then we stacked books and Cedrik ended up living like 11 books-and not small ones! Freddie lifted 6-I'm she he could have done more but exerting himself is not something he likes to do voluntarily-and that's okay.

We outlined their bodies and they drew in their faces. Cedrik drew in his digestive system (esophagus, stomach and intestines) and then colored in a few muscles.

School has not been as intensive the last couple of months because of the pregnancy and then the house and thanksgiving. Now we're on to Christmas and I'm focusing on that. I did remember a photographer who did a series called "Reflections of Christ." So, we'll be looking at that a lot, reading scriptures, listening to good music, Christmas books, doing our advent calendar, practicing for the Christmas recital and making crafts. A different style of learning for the month of December. Then onto dinosaurs and the ice age for January.
