Turtles & Tortoises

Tortoise is a fun word to write.

They live on land. Have huge shells, the Galapagos tortoises can grow to be 6 feet long.  Their bodies do not detach from their shell.  The carapace is the outer shell.  Cedrik loves being a tortoise and turtle.  He dug a hole for his eggs, and waited for them to hatch.  He was protected in his shell (the coffee table) from falling objects and Freddie's fists.
We watched a beautiful documentary on a sea turtle.  We also watched a tortoise lay eggs (he found this completely fascinating).

He learned they eat mainly vegetables but if they get hungry enough will eat dead animals.  Fun stuff.
