This week we learned about fish. He learned some of the parts of the fish. He loves nomenclature cards. I realized that he doesn't really like to color. He will draw, paint, cut, glue, glitter, but he just scribbles while coloring. So I'm trying to find different ways to get him to be artistic because he has a very creative mind.
He is learning to count past 20. He used dried fruit to keep counting and I think it was a hit. And writing the letter d, in cursive-I can explain why later.
We read: Drawing Lessons From a Bear, The Pout-Pout Fish in The Big Big Dark, Billy Twitters and His Blue Whale Problem, research books on salmon, sharks, dolphins.
Fish week wouldn't be complete without water play. He kept filling the shark up with water so it could breath through its gills. We also learned about basking sharks (google it if you don't know) and we tried throwing raisins into each others mouths to show that it would be much more helpful to have a large mouth to catch more food, like the basking shark. You'll notice in one picture he has a horn on his head, like the horn shark. Awesome.
My favorite Cedrik quote this week: as I was telling him which books we were going to be reading he said "Where are the PISH (fish) BOOKS?!" I said, "I have a book about salmon. "He replied "No, that's Nephi's brother." (Nephi is a prophet from the Book of Mormon and one of his brothers was named Samuel)
"I am an artist!"
