The Actual Colorado Trip--Part 1

Well, I guess it's high time we post about about our trip to Colorado.

Early morning photos are the best.

Platty--Short for Plattypus.

Wyoming...

...I mean, Wide-Oming.

When driving through Wide-Oming, to keep from being bored one should: a) count the oil refineries b) read c) count the Little America signs or d) nothing helps....it's just that boring.

Jordan likes dump trucks.

Ome to orful Lorado.

On Friday night we got into town about 5:30pm. We had REALLY good hamburgers for dinner. After dinner, one of my best friends, Ian Gordon came over to visit. He's one of the funniest people we know. He also said that he approved of Jordan...whew...that was the one opinion I was most worried about, good thing Jordan passed. :)

On Saturday morning we got up somewhat early and Dad made the best french toast ever. We also had sausage. Then Mom and I went shopping and the boys...well I don't know, they may have cleaned cars or something--I think this was when Jordan got his version of the "garage talk" with Dad (What are you doing with your life? How will you treat my daughter? etc). Later that afternoon Dudo took Jordan, Christie (his friend girl) and I shooting.

A favorite past time of the Smith Family (ok, maybe just Dad, Dudo and I) is to go to Jax Outdoor gear. It is the most amazing store on the planet. It has every fishing fly you can think of, fishing poles, reels, pistols, rifles, shot guns, shoes, clothing, camping gear, kayaks, animal calls, knives, (we thought about buying a switch blade for Riley) AND an army surplus area, which includes boots, socks, bags, hats, and clothes--just to name a few. We had fun trying on some different army helmets. We should have bought the safari army helmet; that way when Jordan is doing surveillance in his hot truck he could have pretended he was hunting rhinos.
"Jax Outdoor GEEEAAARRR."

This was Saturday afternoon...packing Dudo's truck to go shooting.

Dudo's friend Jared, lives just south of town...right outside city limits.
Just far enough to get into a little trouble. ;)

AR-15.

Fun little gun.

Beretta M-9

Spencer (Dudo) may have shot the electric fence a little. So, like a good boy, he fixed it.

Jordan likes it when I handle guns...

Jordan wanted a picture of my dainty hands holding this big gun. This gun is a Remington 700PSS.

This is Spencer's sniper rifle, the 700PSS. It's awesome.

One Frog...travelling yards in order to save his family from being shot by the humans...his name? Frederick Gilbert III.
We would have brought this little guy home for the Petersons,
but they can no longer have amphibians.

All in all, it was a great day. Afterwards, we went back home and Mom fed us tacos and Dad made his famous guacamole. For desert: Coconut Cake. Delicious.

  1. Great pics. Just one question, where did Dudo get his name?
