Random Russia Week

Cedrik and Freddie love to play with this little girl who lives across the street, Addison. She happens to be the topic of a lot of conversations (she also happens to be an only child and quite bossy-but they adore her).

She tried hard to teach Fred how to peddle. She hasn't tried again since that day. ;)

My friend Julia came over and we made some black drawing salve. It also happened to stain my le creuset spatulas. Very sad. I guess now they are my concoction spatulas.

Cedrik and I made zucchini bread and it was really good.

We went to the Russian food festival on Friday. So, we learned about Russia on Thursday. We learned a song with our fingers (it was the names of father, mother, brother, sister and baby in Russian). Then I drew faces on their fingers and we sang the song....a lot of times.

Cedrik styled Eloise's hair and then took a picture of her. His hair looked nice for a minute. You can see what it became by the time 1130 rolled around in the picture beneath it. We ate so much good food. Crepes with homemade cottage cheese (my second favorite), peroshkies, these fried potato quesadilla-esque things that were yummy, baklava (which Cedrik loves to say, and was my favorite) and honey cakes (the boys'favorite). We had just read The Children of Hat Cottage that morning and they love to pretend to eat the honey cakes at the end of the book. So, they were super excited to get their own.

Cedrik thinks playing soccer with his shirt off and tucked in his pants is really cool.

Eloise decided to remake herself: she now sits up, rolls and army crawls anywhere she likes. She is also sporting a new smile... That she came up with all on her own.  L.O.V.E. H.E.R.

Little Readers

Cedrik memorizes most of the books we read. This is starting to come in handy: he can now read them to Freddie.

My cute little guru

He chants all day long. It's the cutest thing ever.

Mothers Can Create Friendships

The Peterson's came to town. Wednesday night Adrienne took me to dinner at Bardenay downtown. It was perfect- the weather, conversation, food. It was so fun, even when we were lost and couldn't find her rental car. ;)

She stayed late at our house talking to Jordan and me.  It was so nice.

The next morning we went to  the nature center. I wish we had gotten Cedrik and Lily's first hug on video. They ran to reach other, stopped about 5 feet away and then Adrienne told them they could hug, so they did. The kids ran and pretended to be different animals. We walked over to the greenbelt and found a little beach (a worker at the nature center told us where to find it). We could have probably spent the entire time at the beach. The kids  found HUGE rocks to throw in the water. They waded in (crazy kids!).  Cedrik even held Adrienne's hand.

Freddie was shy until we went to Goody's. Although if you were to ask him if he had fun he would say yes. He keeps asking when we'll see them again. The kids all loved the ice cream for lunch. They love Connor and Lily. I love them all.

Adrienne and Bryant stopped by on their way out of town and she gave me a blue (our favorite color) picture frame with our picture inside. I love her.

We both talk about the other's kids often. I show the boys pictures and videos of Connor and Lily all the time. I hope their friendships continue to grow. Mom's can help foster relationships and it showed. It was as if no time had passed between them. And since we talk almost daily, no time had passed between Adrienne and me.
