Anacortes Trip-the story

Spence showed up on Thursday and spent the afternoon with us. We ate his favorite, Flying Pie pizza for dinner. He brought the boys some fruit snacks (basically to win freddie over-and it worked).

We headed out early Friday morning and the drive went really well. They are such good travelers. They love listening to music so most of the time we did that and talked. We stopped in Yakima and met Dad, Donna and Spencer for lunch. We all had disgustingly huge lunches. I don't even want to think about it.

When we got to anacortes we checked into our quaint motel and headed over to the rental house everyone else was staying at. Then everyone met for dinner at a Chinese restaurant in town and that was a lot of fun. Thankfully, Chinese restaurants have lots of veggies! :)

We were all exhausted but instead of going to bed, Jordan helped my aunt practice her duet she was performing the next day at the memorial. I stayed with the kids and then we crashed when he got home.

Morning came early. We found a lovely restaurant named Adrift, which featured local, organic, etc, on their menu. The boys shared spelt and cottage cheese pancakes (delicious) and Jordan and I both got the egg sandwich with jarlsberg cheese, garlic aioli and avacado-even more delicious. We still want another. :)

Jordan stayed with the kids while I went to attend Missy's ash spreading (not sure how to make that more grammatically correct, or more polite). Freddie actually fell asleep on Jordan and Eloise napped in another room-Cedrik was kind enough to let them sleep.

That afternoon we had the two hour memorial. After, almost everyone (it seemed) told us how wonderful the kids were. They really did fantastic and we were happy with them. They are troopers. Cedrik really came out of his shell this weekend and introduced himself to almost everyone in Anacortes. The entire family thought he was darling, Eloise was a huge hit, being the only baby, and of course, everyone falls in love with Freddie and his huge beautiful eyes.

After eating, we decided it was time to let them run, so we took a walk to the beach. They threw so many rocks and my cousin Ben was brave enough to hold crabs and show them to the boys-he is awesome.

The next day we went for an early morning hike, followed by doughnuts (promised to Freddie). His incentive for the hike (a whopping 1 mile) was that he would get doughnuts at the end. He and I trailed Jordan and Cedrik by about 50+ feet the whole way. Cedrik literally ran circles around us and back to Jordan-just like i remember doing. Freddie has no rush in life and it teaches me that it's OK to slow down. The entire walk he was either asking me to hold him, or he was telling me his favorite foods/what he wished we could be eating. :)

We got the promised, amazing, doughnuts, drove around looking at enormous boats and ships and then let the kids nap. After naps we had Mexican food, and Dad, Spence and the rest of my cousins took the boys to the ocean again. It was a long day for them-they loved every minute.

We spent the evening with the family and Jordan and I talked a lot to my uncles brother, Noel (pronounced Nole). He was so interesting and we talked a lot about meditation and spirituality. It was cool.

We drove home Monday and again the kids were fantastic. Dudo spent the evening with us on Tuesday, and time just went too fast. We already miss him.

Very successful vacation.
