Gas Planets and Pluto

This week we did school two days.  We finished up the planets with Jupiter (which we learned smells like rotten eggs and window cleaner - has 4 rings - and the most moons).  Saturn has thousands of rings (obviously) and is second in line for the most moons.  Uranus and Neptune are blue because of the methane (which is odorless).  Uranus' rings are vertical and it has the biggest storms of all the planets (I would assume this excludes the huge storm on Jupiter that sucks in the other storms that pass it).  Pluto is now a dwarf planet and its atmosphere collapses as it gets father from the sun, and therefore colder very cool and we were able to use our hands to show this.

He painted and colored and now that our solar system is complete I need to get it hung up.  He glued rice and beans to make Jupiter and Freddie's had only white rice and three beans on it.  Jordan remembered the Google sky app that shows constellations, planets, etc and Cedrik likes looking through it.

Next week we study the moon and lately it has been bright and beautiful.

  1. I thought I already knew a lot from our study of the solar system, but your post taught me new things. There is so much to learn.
